Provincetown, or as many call it, P-Town, is one of my favorite places in the world. As a Cape Cod native, I can say that Provincetown is the most fun, and one of the most beautiful towns on Cape. I love it so much that I even got married there, at the Provincetown Inn. An added bonus about Provincetown is how dog-friendly the town is. You can do almost anything with your dog there: eat, drink, shop, go to the beach, hike, or even see a show! We’ve taken Roswell there a few times, and have put together a list of our favorite dog-friendly things to do there. Most of these recommendations are based right on Commercial Street, the main drag in town.

Dog-Friendly Restaurants

• The Canteen – enjoy a frosé and french fries at a picnic table on the sand while your pup lays beside you and enjoys the ocean views (we saw a fox there last time we visited – always keep your dogs leashed!)
• WayDownTown – centrally located, you’re able to sit on the back deck with your dog while you dine.
• Patio – while not all tables are dog-friendly, we ate dinner here on the front patio with Roswell by our side.
• Connie’s Bakery – this is where we stopped for some quick breakfast sandwiches and coffee, and ate outside on a picnic table – there’s no indoor/formal dining, just grab and go. This is where we got Roswell the Cape Cod dog cookie in the photo above!
• The Landing Bistro & Bar at Pilgrim House – this dog-friendly hotel has it’s own restaurant, where you can sit outdoors on the patio with your pup.

Dog-Friendly Things To Do

• Pilgrim Bark Park – this was voted one of the top 10 dog parks in the USA! They have a small dog area and general dog area, with plenty of room to run and play. The terrain is mostly pebbles, and there were lots of friendly dogs to play with when we visited.
• Paws & Whiskers – stop in this shop to buy your dog any treat, bone, toy, or accessory you could think of, they’ll be in heaven!
• The Black Dog – stop in and shop for yourself or for your pup! This is one of our favorite clothing stores, I think half of my wardrobe is Black Dog at this point.
• Walk Commercial Street! The majority of shops are dog-friendly here, and many even have bowls of water out front for those hot days.

Dog-Friendly Hotels

• The Pilgrim House – we were lucky enough to stay here for two nights with Roswell back in May. They can accommodate up to 2 dogs under 35lbs in total. They have 5 dog-friendly rooms available, so call ahead to be sure you can book one! Unfortunately most entertainment wasn’t running yet as it was the off-season, but they have some awesome shows including a Sunday drag brunch. Dog-Friendly Beaches

• Herring Cove Beach – head to the left side and make sure you check the National Seashore’s Dog Info Page for closures due to shorebird nesting. Signs should also indicate pet-friendly areas.
• Race Point Beach – currently closed to dogs due to shorebird nesting, but check back regularly as this beach is awesome. Keep an eye out for seals and whales, and maybe you’ll even see a shark!
• Don’t forget your poop bags and water!
